Dehradun, 27 September (HS). Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Seni) participated in the program organized on World Tourism Day in Mussoorie on Friday. On this occasion, the Governor also released a book titled Birds in and Around Mussoorie. This book has been written by Sanjay Kumar, an IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre. In this he has compiled photos and information of more than 150 birds of Mussoorie and surrounding areas.
On this occasion, Governor Gurmeet Singh said that it is commendable to depict the natural beauty and bird diversity of Mussoorie through the book. Mussoorie, the queen of hills, is also a treasure trove of bird diversity. From vibrant migratory birds to endemic species, our hills and valleys are alive with the sounds of nature, enthralling both locals and visitors.
He said that Uttarakhand is rich and amazing in biodiversity, which is a center of attraction for tourists. Known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage, Uttarakhand has emerged as an important destination for tourism in India. It has become an important source of economy of Uttarakhand. Due to this, livelihood opportunities are also being provided in all areas in the state. He said that tourism has a major contribution in the economy of Uttarakhand. On World Tourism Day, we have to take a pledge to provide necessary facilities to tourists while maintaining our biodiversity. He said that there is immense potential for tourism in every region of Uttarakhand. Keeping this in mind, it is necessary to do quality and value addition in tourism activities. We have to keep our guest Devo Bhava tradition paramount.
On this occasion, the Governor also released a postage stamp based on birds, Mussoorie: Paradise of Birds, on behalf of the Postal Department. In the program, the author of the book, Sanjay Kumar gave information about the book. During this, First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, Chief Forest Conservator Dr. Dhananjay Mohan, Director Postal Services Uttarakhand Anusuiya Prasad Chamola etc. were present.
