Patna, 27 September (HS). Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a high-level review of the Energy Department on Friday evening. During this, he took information about the current status of smart pre-paid meters and gave necessary directions to the officials. During the review, the Chief Minister said that electricity has been provided to all the houses in the year 2018. Uninterrupted electricity is being supplied to all. The state government is spending money as a grant to consumers on electricity consumption so that the people of the state can get cheap electricity. The government is sensitive towards solving the problems of the people and is continuously working to provide them facilities. If any type of consumer complaint is received, resolve it immediately.
The Chief Minister said that along with saving electricity consumption, smart pre-paid meters also provide convenience to the people in paying electricity bills. If there is complaint of any kind of technical error in this, then resolve it immediately. Everyone knows what was the electricity situation in the state before 2005. Since coming to power, many steps have been taken to provide electricity to the people. Misconceptions are being spread by some people regarding smart pre-paid meters. From independence till 2005, when they were in power, they had left Bihar in such a bad situation in terms of electricity. During my address at Gandhi Maidan on the occasion of Independence Day on 15 August 2012, I had promised that if the electricity situation is not improved, I will not come among the people to ask for votes in the 2015 assembly elections. We made a promise and fulfilled it in letter and spirit and electricity was provided to every household. People should not be misled by those who are spreading false propaganda and rumours. He said that people should be informed about the benefits of smart pre-paid meters by running a campaign among the people and should work diligently to solve the problems of the consumers. All District Magistrates should also make people aware and motivate regarding the benefits of smart pre-paid meters.
The Chief Minister said that we have promoted the use of solar energy. Solar plates have been installed on the roofs of all government buildings. Solar street lights are being installed in all the villages and hamlets so that people continue to get light even at night and there is no inconvenience in transportation. Agricultural feeders are being installed for the farmers so that they continue to get cheap and uninterrupted electricity and they do not face any inconvenience in irrigation work.
