Haridwar, 26 September (HS). A businessman who had come from Bareilly to buy groceries, his partner absconded with a bag full of cash. The victim businessman lodged a complaint at Jwalapur Kotwali after the incident. Taking prompt action, the police arrested the accused and recovered Rs. 2.5 lakh from him.
According to the information, Shiv Kumar Kakkar, son of Suraj Kakkar, resident of Model Town Biradari, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, had come from Bareilly to Haridwar on September 19 to buy grocery items. He had six lakh rupees in the bag, which his companion ran away with. On the information of the informer, the police involved in the investigation of the case arrested the accused from Old Ranipur turn.
SSP Pramendra Doval said that the accused, who worked in marketing and supply in a namkeen and biscuit factory, had promised the victim businessman to get groceries from Saharanpur at cheap prices. The businessman had left for Saharanpur from Bareilly with his employee, driver and the accused, but due to delay, stopped at Jwalapur. During their stay in the hotel, the businessman handed over a bag full of money to the accused, with which he ran away.
The accused admitted that he had hatched this plan to repay his loan. The police have registered a case against the accused and sent him to jail.
