Palamu, 26 September (Hindustan Reporter). A hawker coming from Uttar Pradesh and selling fake coins by pretending to be silver coins under the guise of selling clothes has been arrested. The hawker was selling coins at a jewelery shop in Pandu in Palamu district. He was caught in this sequence. 10 fake silver coins have been recovered from him. After this he was sent to judicial custody on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Jitendra Pandey, resident of Daitha village of Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh. He used to sell clothes by roaming around. He also ran the business of selling fake silver coins. On Wednesday, a jewelery shop in Pandu was selling fake coins by passing them off as silver coins. When in doubt, the shopkeeper examined the coin. When the coin was found to be fake, he informed the police. Police reached the spot and arrested the hawker. 10 fake coins were recovered from him. Victoria Impress, One Rupee India 1839 etc. are written on the fake coins and Victoria's picture is also made on the coin. Pandu police station in-charge Kumar Saurabh has confirmed the arrest.
