Amritsar : Bhagwant Singh, a resident of Sarahali Kalan area under Kathunangal police station, was shot dead by some people. The incident happened late Wednesday night. The police reached the spot and admitted Bhagwant Singh to the hospital, where he died during treatment. According to the police, Bhagwant Singh is an accountant by profession and was living in village Sarahali Kalan for the last several years. A few days ago, his minor granddaughter was molested by some boys. When Bhagwant Singh came to know about this, he opposed the accused. Despite this, the accused also abused Bhagwant Singh. It is alleged that Bhagwant Singh also beat up the harassers in this regard. The accused were angry about this matter. On Wednesday night, Bhagwant Singh had left the house for some work. During this time, the accused surrounded him and started beating him. When Bhagwant Singh tried to control them, the accused took out a pistol and shot at him. Seeing the numberdar in a bloody condition, the attackers fled. People who reached the spot admitted him to a nearby private hospital where he died.
