Bhopal, 25 September (HS). Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has opened new doors for the overall development of the entire region by gifting the Ken-Betwa project to the Bundelkhand region. This will promote agriculture as well as industrial development. A regional industry conclave is going to be held in Sagar on 27 September. This conclave will not only give a new identity to Bundelkhand, known as the land of heroes, but will also give impetus to industrial development.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said in his statement on Wednesday that the Regional Industry Conclave held in regional areas has brought unprecedented success in investment. This will lead to development of the region as well as creation of a large number of jobs. He said that the MP government will leave no stone unturned in the overall development of the Bundelkhand region. He said that before the Regional Industry Conclave of Sagar, discussions were held with the industrialists of the Bundelkhand region. All have agreed to invest on a large scale to promote industries. Industrialists from the country and abroad have shown interest in participating in the conclave and investing.
Industrial scenario of Sagar division
Many important schemes are being implemented for industrial development in the major districts of Sagar division – Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Damoh and Panna, so that investment in the state increases and new employment opportunities are created.
Sagar District: There are 206 industrial units functioning on a total area of 440 acres of land in five industrial areas in Sagar district. These units have a capital investment of about Rs 211 crore and are providing employment to 4789 people. The major projects include Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL)'s refinery at Bina with an investment of Rs 15000 crore and employment to 4000 people. Besides, an additional investment of Rs 49000 crore is proposed for expansion of the refinery and construction of a petrochemical complex, which will provide direct and indirect employment to thousands of people.
Chhatarpur District: Chhatarpur district has three industrial areas, located on 145 acres of land. A total of 82 industrial units are functioning here, which have generated an investment of Rs 19 crore and employment to 560 people. In future, it is proposed to develop an industrial area on 131 acres of land in village Dhadhari. Development of new industrial areas is also proposed by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department in Village Damchi, Naya Gaon, Pathapur, and Sikarpura, which will promote industries like food processing, mineral based industries and engineering works.
Tikamgarh District: There are four industrial areas in Tikamgarh district, in which a total of 32 industrial units are functioning. These have generated a capital investment of about Rs 12 crore and provided employment to 358 people. Major schemes include the proposed construction of Bell Metal Cluster and Furniture Cluster. Apart from this, industrial areas are also being developed in Village Sunora Khiria, Kari Khas, and Lidhora Ugad, which will provide further expansion to the local industries.
Niwari District: There are three industrial areas in Niwari district, in which a total of 119 industrial units are functioning. A capital investment of Rs 135 crore has been made here and 1690 people have got employment. Among the important projects, an integrated steel plant is being constructed by Pacific Meta Steels with an investment of Rs 1772 crore, which will provide employment to 1164 people. Also, new industrial areas are being developed in Babedi Jungle and Village Jer.
Damoh District: Damoh district has three industrial areas in which a total of 53 industrial units are functioning. These have made a capital investment of Rs 16 crore and provided employment to 210 people. A cement plant is proposed to be constructed here by M/s JSW Cement with an investment of Rs 3000 crore, which will boost local industries and increase employment opportunities.
Panna District: Panna district, known as the land of diamonds, is also moving towards industrial development. There are 2 industrial areas in the district, in which 20 industrial units are functioning. These have brought in a capital investment of Rs 46 crore and provided employment to 178 people. Major projects include construction of a cement plant at Amanganj with an investment of Rs 2000 crore and setting up of a Diamond Business Park.
Industrial Prospects: All the districts of Sagar division have immense potential in industries such as mineral based industries, tourism, food processing, brass, petrochemicals, bidi, furniture, engineering works, plastic and packaging. The steps being taken by the state government are expected to attract huge investments in these industries, which will not only accelerate economic development but will also create new employment opportunities.
The state government has declared the year 2025 as the Industry Year. In this direction, the government is organizing road shows across the country and regional industry conclaves at the local level, due to which the state is succeeding in establishing its identity as an industrial hub. With this innovation of the state government, the state will make an important contribution in fulfilling the goal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a developed nation by the year 2047.
