Palwal, September 25 (HS). To ensure peaceful conduct of assembly elections in the district, Section 163 has been used to ban unauthorized use of vehicles by all political parties, candidates, supporters and workers. The orders have to be strictly followed. Giving the above information, DC Dr. Harish Kumar Vashisht said that action will be taken under Section 223 for violating the orders.
He clarified in the orders that no public meeting, padayatra or public gathering shall be organised by the political parties, candidates and their supporters for election campaign without prior permission of the concerned Returning Officer, any authorised officer and District Election Officer Palwal.
Political parties, candidates and their supporters will not use any vehicle including cycle-rickshaw for election campaign without prior permission of the Returning Officer or any authorized officer and District Election Officer Palwal. He said that the permission issued for the vehicle will also have to be displayed on the windscreen of that vehicle.
No permission to travel in convoy
He said that cars or vehicles used for election campaigning will not be allowed to move in a convoy of more than three vehicles in the jurisdiction of district Palwal from the date of notification till the completion of the election process under any circumstances. All large convoys will be broken up, even if they carry a minister of the central or state government.
The orders will also be relevant for the re-polling process
However, this will be subject to any safety instructions issued in respect of any such person. Vehicles used for election campaigns that have been customised or converted into video vans will be required to comply with the Motor Vehicles Act. He clarified that the above orders will also be relevant for the re-poll process, if required.
