Shock to Congress, petition to stop Income Tax Department action on bank accounts rejected

New Delhi: The Income Tax Appellate Tribunal has rejected the Congress party's plea to set aside the penalty on previous IT returns. Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken, on behalf of the party, said that we are exploring legal options against the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal order and will soon approach the High Court against it.

Let us tell you that the Income Tax Department had sealed four bank accounts of Congress and Youth Congress. The Income Tax Department has sought recovery of Rs 210 crore, which means Congress will have to pay this amount to the Income Tax Department as a fine. The party had appealed against this in the Income Tax Appellate Authority but this appeal has been rejected.
