District Election Officer Dr. Harish Kumar Vashishth directed the Returning Officers of all three assembly constituencies to give strict instructions to the FST, SST teams deployed in their areas to keep a close watch on the activities violating the Model Code of Conduct. Suspicious activities should be immediately videographed and reported to the concerned Returning Officer and police.
DC Dr. Harish Kumar Vashishth said on Friday that the checkposts set up at the designated places should be present at all times and continuous checking should be done. There should be no movement of any suspicious goods, cash, illegal liquor etc. within the district limits. If campaign vehicles are found without permission, they should be immediately impounded. Strict action should also be taken against officers and employees who are negligent in election duty.
He said that he was reviewing the election related preparations and arrangements with the returning officers related to the assembly general elections by holding a meeting in his camp office. While giving instructions to the returning officers, he said that the FST, SST and other teams deployed in the election should not show any kind of negligence during duty.
Officers will not get leave without solid reason
Apart from this, no officer or employee engaged in election duty will be given leave without a solid reason. In case of extreme emergency, permission to take leave will have to be taken from the District Election Officer only. If anyone is negligent in this, strict action will be taken against him. During the meeting, he reviewed the preparations made for the elections.
