Jodhpur, 24 September (HS). Now big opportunities for medical education will be available in western Rajasthan. Under the initiative of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and guidance of Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar, various projects related to medical education and health are being speeded up in Jodhpur and Pali divisions. At present, 38 works are in progress in 10 districts of Jodhpur and Pali divisions at a cost of about 2300 crores, whose completion will change the picture of the medical sector in western Rajasthan. Medical value travel will get a boost from this.
The central and state governments think that the health infrastructure should be strengthened even in areas with geographical disparities and remote areas. In view of this, the construction work of a medical college and a 345-bed hospital is being done in Jaisalmer district at a cost of Rs 325 crore. Efforts are being made to start this college in the upcoming academic session 2025-26. Admission will be done on 100 MBBS seats in the first year. Similarly, a medical college has been started in Barmer district and currently a 470-bed hospital is being constructed at a cost of about Rs 191 crore. This work will be completed by December 2024.
Youth will get better opportunities
A medical college has also started in Pali district and currently a 402-bed hospital is being constructed at a cost of about Rs 180 crore. Its work will be completed by June 2025. An action plan is being prepared at the departmental level to open a medical college on PPP mode in Jalore district too. These projects will provide education and employment opportunities to local youth and will expand health services in the area.
Medical University in Jodhpur
To promote opportunities and research in the field of medical education in the state, the second state medical university is being established in Jodhpur. This Marwar Medical University, being established at a cost of about Rs 500 crore, will expand the opportunities for medical education in western Rajasthan. Various medical colleges will be able to operate in a better way. Along with this, it will also encourage medical value travel in the state.
There will be an increase in beds
Similarly, the construction work of Regional Cancer Center, Pratap Nagar Satellite Hospital, Mandore Satellite Hospital, Institute of Maternity and Neonatology, Dental College etc. is going on in Jodhpur. About 725 crore rupees will be spent on these. All these works are likely to be completed by March 2025. There will be an increase of about 700 beds in the hospitals attached to Dr. SN Medical College of Jodhpur district. Completion of four works of Critical Care Block in Jodhpur, Barmer, Pali, Sirohi districts will increase 200 beds.
Jodhpur District Collector Gaurav Aggarwal said that with the completion of these projects, the availability of health facilities will improve not only in Jodhpur but also in the surrounding districts and areas. The general public will be able to get super specialty medical services at their nearest place. Also, the youth of the area will get more opportunities for medical studies. This will also accelerate the development of the district.
