Barcelona continued their impressive start to La Liga with a 5-1 win over rivals Villarreal but goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen was forced off the pitch on a stretcher with a serious knee injury.
Barcelona has won its sixth consecutive victory in the league. Robert Lewandowski and Rafinha scored two goals each. However, Lewandowski also missed a penalty once in the match. Lewandowski opened Barcelona's account by scoring a header on a pass from Pablo Tore in the 20th minute. This was his sixth goal of the season. He is two goals ahead of Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe in the race for the Golden Boot. Lewandowski scored his second goal in the 35th minute. Pablo Tore scored in the 58th minute and Rafinha in the 74th and 83rd minutes. The only goal for Villarreal was scored by Ayoze in the 38th minute.
In other league matches, Real Madrid defeated Espanyol 4-1 and Athletic Club Celta Vigo 3-1. Apart from this, the match between Rayo Volcano and Atletico Madrid ended in a 1-1 draw and the match between Getafe and Leganes ended in a 1-1 draw. For Athletic Club, Gorka Gurujeta scored in the 4th and 39th minutes and Alvaro Jalo scored in the 80th minute.
