Mumbai, 23 September (HS). On Monday, the police in Nanded district lathicharged the activists of Maratha community who were protesting for reservation. Five people were injured in this incident and two of them have been admitted to the hospital.
Manoj Jarange Patil has been on a hunger strike for the last seven days at Antarwali Sarati for the reservation of the Maratha community. The entire Maratha community met the Superintendent of Police three days ago and submitted a statement to the Collector demanding that the government fulfill the demands of the community for justice and give justice to the Maratha community. It was also said that Nanded Bandh has been organized today on the 23rd. According to this, all the businesses, schools, colleges, bus services of the city were completely closed today. Till 5 pm, not a single bus left from a depot in Nanded city and district.
There was a crowd at the bus station. At 11 am, the workers of the Maratha community took out a motorcycle rally and appealed to the traders to unite and close their establishments. When this rally came from Chhatrapati Chowk to Mor Chowk, the workers of the Maratha community requested some shopkeepers to go to the shops and participate in today's bandh. After this, sloganeering started at Mor Chowk. At the same time, the Bhagyanagar police team arrived there. During this time, an argument broke out between them and the workers of the Maratha community. At the same time, the employees of Bhagyanagar police station took out sticks from the vehicle and started beating the workers of the Maratha community with sticks. Five people have been injured in this incident. On this occasion, there was also a tussle between the police inspector and the workers of the Maratha community. Even after this, the beating continued. Five people have been injured in the brutal beating by the police, two of whom have been admitted to the government hospital.
Meanwhile, when the Maratha community activists were meeting Collector Abhijit Raut in a closed room, the police suddenly spread panic and beat up the activists. We are protesting against all these incidents and demanded that strict action be taken against those concerned and they should be suspended.
