Under the National Vector Borne Disease Control Program, the Health Department is organizing Baiga-Gunia meetings and conferences in forest areas and tribal dominated areas. Under this program, a conference was held in village Mohera and Singpur of Magarlod block on 23 September.
Nine Baiga Gunias participated in Mohera and eight Baiga Gunias in Singpur. Before this, 25 Baiga-Gunias participated in Dugli Nagari. The objective of this conference is to remove superstitions prevalent in rural areas, because malaria-affected patients get fever with shivering and people have superstitions. Shivering is believed to be caused by ghosts. To remove this superstition, the local Baiga-Gunias were explained that malaria is a disease caused by mosquito bites. It causes fever with shivering and chills. In case of this type of fever or any fever or ill health, get your blood tested and get tested and get medicines from the nearby health worker and hospital on time and take measures to protect yourself from mosquitoes.
