Uttarakhand: Central government approves NCC expansion | News India

Dehradun, 23 September (HS). There is good news for the youth of Uttarakhand who want to join NCC. In the biennial program of the United States representatives of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) held in New Delhi, the Ministry of Defense has given its approval to the expansion of NCC in Uttarakhand. With this, now seven and a half thousand new cadets will be recruited in NCC.

Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat informed that a high level meeting of United States representatives was held in New Delhi on Monday under the chairmanship of Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth regarding the NCC expansion plan. In which education ministers from all over the country, senior officials of the Ministry of Defence, NCC chiefs of all the states and officials of DGNCC headquarters participated.

Minister Rawat said that in the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the expansion plan of NCC, refining policies, meeting financial requirements and setting up new infrastructure related to training and camp. He said that the issues of NCC related to the state were given prominence in the meeting. In view of the increasing demand for NCC in the educational institutions of the state, the demand for recruitment of 10 thousand cadets was placed in the meeting. On which the Central Government has approved the recruitment of seven and a half thousand cadets in the state under the NCC expansion plan, in which 50 percent girl cadets will be recruited. Apart from this, the demand for financial assistance to conduct the activities of NCC, to ensure effective implementation of training programs was also placed in the meeting, on which the Union Minister of State for Defense gave positive assurance.

The department minister informed that at present there are 55214 NCC cadets in the educational institutions of the state, out of which 23534 are under secondary education and 31680 cadets are under higher education. At present 9 cadets are working in the state for conducting the activities of NCC, the demand for increasing the number of these cadets has also been made to the central government.

He informed that NCC is being run in 561 educational institutions across the state which includes 338 schools under secondary education, 22 colleges under higher education and 201 private schools/colleges. NCC operation is proposed in 606 educational institutions of the state which includes 223 schools in secondary education, 24 colleges in higher education and 359 private schools/colleges.

Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat raised the issues related to NCC strongly in the biennial program of the joint state representatives of the National Cadet Corps (NCC). As a result, the Central Government approved the recruitment of seven and a half thousand cadets in the state under the NCC expansion scheme. The state government is committed to fulfilling the aspirations of the youth of the state. The increasing demand for NCC in the educational institutions of the state will be fulfilled in every possible way with the help of the Central Government.
