Death by lightning: A major accident has happened in Chhattisgarh. 8 people have died due to lightning in Joratarai of Rajnandgam. Five children and three youths have died in this accident. The accident happened in Joratarai village of Somani area when school children got electrocuted while returning from school.
According to the report, the condition of one student is critical in this accident. Rajnandgam Collector Sanjay Agarwal has confirmed the incident. All the six children were studying in class 11 and were returning after giving the exam.
On the way, during heavy rain, they went under a Mahua tree to save themselves. During this time, lightning struck the tree, killing five children, while one was injured.
The district administration has announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased, while compensation for the injured will be decided as per the rules.
