India's official entry for Oscars 2025 has been announced. 'Missing Ladies' directed by Kiran Rao will represent India at the 97th Academy Awards. It has been nominated in the Best Foreign Film category. The members of The Film Federation of India have announced India's official entry to the Academy Awards. Produced by Aamir Khan, the film featured Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava and Nitanshi Goyal in lead roles. Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam have played important roles in this film.
29 films were left behind
Hindi film 'Laapata Ladies', a light-hearted satire on patriarchy, was selected from a list of 29 films, which also included Bollywood hit 'Animal', Malayalam National Award winner 'Attam' and Cannes winner 'All We Imagine Is Light'. The 13-member selection committee headed by Assamese director Jahnu Barua unanimously decided to include Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao's 'Laapata Ladies' in the Best International Film category at the Academy Awards. This film has also beaten Tamil film 'Maharaja', Telugu film 'Kalki 2898 AD' and 'Hanu-Man'. Let us tell you that 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar' and 'Article 370' were also included in the list of 29 films.

Let us tell you that the film 'Missing Ladies' was released in theaters on March 1. It had a slow start at the box office. By the opening weekend, the film managed to earn Rs 4 crore. After 50 days of theatrical release, the total box office collection of 'Missing Ladies' was Rs 17.31 crore. You can watch this film on Netflix. Recently, Kiran Rao said in an interview, 'If Missing Ladies reaches the Oscars, my dream will come true. This is a process at the moment and I am sure it will be considered.
