A couple who printed fake notes after staying in a lodge in Navi Mumbai for four months was caught | News India

Mumbai: The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Navi Mumbai has arrested two people including a woman from a lodge in Mahape, Navi Mumbai for allegedly printing and circulating fake notes. In this case, the police seized fake notes worth Rs. 81 thousand.

According to the information received, the police have arrested 35-year-old Vivek Kumar Prembabu Peepal and 36-year-old Ashwini Vishwanath Sarode in this case. Both these accused were living in Krishna Palace Lodge for the last four months.

Acting on a tip-off, the FIU raided the place and confiscated 13 mobile phones, scanners, printers and laptops. The two accused claimed to be siblings and were unemployed for the past one year.

However, Ashwini told that earlier she used to work in the sales department of the bank. While the people claimed to work as second-hand car dealers. Both were living in the lodge for the last four months and were paying regular rent. They always used to order food online. During the raid, the police also found scanned notes of Rs 500 and Rs 100 from his laptop. So ink used in making notes, bond paper were also found from them.

Apart from this, real notes worth Rs. 77 thousand and fake notes worth Rs. 81 thousand were found from these two accused. All these items have been seized by the police. Both were unemployed but lived in a lodge and traveled by car. In such a situation, the police became suspicious of both of them because both of them were living such a luxurious life without a job. So this incident came to light during the investigation. However, it is not known how many notes these two have printed so far. Apart from this, a fake identity card of the Ministry of Defense was also recovered from the people investigating. Who claimed himself to be an officer of the Defense Force. He used this card to cross the toll booth without paying the fee at the toll plaza.

Both of them were arrested in this case and the police registered a case against them under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Both of them were produced in the court and sent to police custody till September 25.
