Kolkata, September 21 (HS). In the case of murder and rape of a woman doctor in RG Kar Hospital, the CBI has now summoned controversial doctor Virupaksha Biswas of Burdwan Medical College. On Saturday, he appeared before the CBI at CGO Complex in Kolkata. The CBI is conducting a thorough investigation in this case, in which the former principal of the hospital, Sandeep Ghosh, has already been arrested.
It is believed that many questions will be asked from Virupaksha in this case as he was present in RG Kar Hospital on the day of the incident.
Virupaksha's name cropped up after the incident. He has already been accused of 'bullying' and threatening junior doctors at Burdwan Medical College. It is also alleged that Virupaksha and his associates had created an atmosphere of terror in hospitals, leaving most junior doctors terrified. A complaint was also filed against Virupaksha at Bowbazar police station after the R.G. Kar incident. The state health department has already suspended him in the case.
Virupaksha, who works as a senior resident in the pathology department of Burdwan Medical College, was also linked to a viral audio in which he was allegedly heard threatening. However, the authenticity of this audio has not been confirmed. The allegation against him is that he used to consume a lot of tea, biscuits, and cigarettes from the college canteen but did not pay for them.
The canteen owner claims that he had asked Virupaksha for the outstanding amount of Rs 23,800 but never received it.
