Two smugglers arrested, drugs worth Rs 15.5 crore seized | News India

Cachar (Assam), September 21 (HS). Cachar Police has achieved a major success against drug smuggling. Cachar Police seized a truck and confiscated narcotic pills worth Rs 15.5 crore from a neighboring state. Two persons have been arrested in this connection.

Cachar Police today said that based on intelligence information, during a search operation in Banskandi under Lakhipur Police Station last night, the police intercepted and raided a truck (AS-01LC-4859). During a detailed search, the police team recovered 18 thousand Yaba tablets and two kg crystalline methamphetamine hidden in the secret chamber of the truck.

The seized drugs are worth about Rs 15.5 crore in the black market. Two persons in the truck have been arrested in this connection. The arrested duo have been identified as Suraj Chhetri (25), a resident of Damrachak, Garchuk in Kamrup (Metro) district and Mangaljeet Rajkumar, a resident of Hatikhira village, Patharkandi in Karimganj district. Police suspect that the seized drugs were illegally brought from Imphal in Manipur. Further investigation is underway in the case.
