Through this portal, medical colleges will be able to enter mandatory information and data on the portal. The Commission will release the information entered in the portal on its website for the general public so that transparency can be increased. If the information entered in this portal is found incorrect, the Commission can impose a fine on the medical college or stop its recognition for five academic years and can also withdraw it.
In a press conference held at the National Medical Commission premises on Thursday, Commission Chairman Dr. BN Gangadhar said that the NMC portal, which will be launched with the aim of promoting paperless working style, will not only promote transparency but will also reduce the work of physical inspection. Will come. Medical colleges have to submit important information like number of faculty, facilities, students, medical seats to the Commission every year. After evaluation and inspection of which, decisions like continuing their recognition, increasing or decreasing the seats are taken.
Portal on Aadhaar-based biometric attendance system for faculty members to be released soon
The National Medical Commission is soon going to release a portal for Aadhaar-based biometric attendance system for faculty members as part of efforts to eliminate 'ghost faculty' in medical colleges. This will ensure the presence of faculty in medical colleges. Commission Secretary B. Srinivas said that with the help of this portal, apart from ensuring the presence of faculty in the medical college, we will also be able to minimize the need for physical inspection. Transparency will also be promoted in this portal. No one can tamper with this biometric portal. With this portal we can present an example of digital rise in the world. Under the new rules, the faculty has to maintain 75 percent attendance. But an assessment of several colleges had revealed that faculty in the colleges were failing to meet even the 50 per cent attendance requirement.
Commission recommends abolition of seat bonds
On the fine being collected from medical students if they leave the college midway, Dr. Aruna V Vanikar, Chairperson of the Undergraduate Education Board under NMC, said that the Commission has made a provision of fine for leaving the seat to reduce the mental pressure on the resident doctors. According to the Anti Ragging Cell of the Commission, according to the data received from 500 out of 700 colleges, a total of 112 medical students committed suicide from the year 2018-2022, in which the number of UG students is 64 and the number of PG students is 58.
