Gorakhpur, 20 September (HS) Gorakshpeethadhiswar and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the great man of the age, Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath ji Maharaj, who made Gorakshpeeth a place of worship and behaved in accordance with the complete form of Sanatan Dharma, fought for the values and ideals of Indianness throughout his life. The values and ideals propounded by him laid the foundation of the reconstruction of Indianness and a cultured society in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Gorakhpur. His thoughts and his deeds inspire us to move forward even today.
Chief Minister Yogi was expressing his feelings on the death anniversary of Mahant Digvijaynath on Friday (Ashwin Krishna Tritiya) as part of the weekly tribute ceremony organized on the occasion of the 55th death anniversary of Yugpurush Brahmalin Mahant Digvijaynath Ji Maharaj and the 10th death anniversary of Rashtrasant Brahmalin Mahant Avedyanath Ji Maharaj.
Chief Minister Yogi said that the entire life of both his predecessors Peethadheeshwars of Gorakshpeeth, Yugpurush Brahmleen Mahant Digvijaynath Ji Maharaj and Rashtra Sant Brahmleen Mahant Avedyanath Ji Maharaj was dedicated to the country and religion. They did not consider religion as just a method of worship but lived their life according to the form of religion that has been described in Indian wisdom. Religion has two purposes. One is worldly prosperity and the other is salvation. Both the saints guided the society with these two forms of religion.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the first requirement for a civilized and capable society is education. Understanding this objective, Mahant Avedyanath ji established Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad in 1932. This work was done not for earning money but for public welfare. He said that after the independence of the country, the then state government needed Rs 50 lakh in cash or property worth this much to establish a university at any place. Mahant Digvijaynath gave the property of MP Balika Degree College, an institution of the Shiksha Parishad, to establish a university in Gorakhpur, to make it an important center of education in eastern Uttar Pradesh. The property worth Rs 50 lakh at that time would be worth Rs 500 crore today. Contributing in the field of technical education in his time, Mahant Digvijaynath ji established MP Polytechnic in 1956 and Ayurveda College in the sixties for medical education. Mahant Avedyanath ji Maharaj did the work of taking these projects forward.
Chief Minister Yogi said that Mahant Digvijaynath and Mahant Avedyanath carried forward many programs for the strengthening of Sanatan Dharma without getting tired, without stopping and without wavering. To unite the Hindu society, they never cared about the governments in the campaign to eradicate untouchability.
Yogi Adityanath said that whatever work was done under the leadership of the revered saints of Gorakshpeeth, it was not for personal name but every work was done in the name of the country, Sanatan Dharma and society. This is because all the work done in accordance with Sanatan Dharma is filled with the spirit of public welfare. The strength of Sanatan is not for the oppression of anyone but for the welfare of the people.
The Chief Minister said that Sanatan Dharma paves the way for the welfare of the entire universe. This is the reason why it is alive day and night, facing the invaders in sudden disasters, good and bad circumstances. He said that it is the specialty and greatness of Sanatan Dharma that it bids farewell to the invaders with goodwill. The Chief Minister said that to fulfill the dreams of the invaders, someone comes in the name of Naxalism, terrorism and separatism but ultimately fails in India. He said that everyone must have seen a similar situation during the Corona period. When the world is not able to recover from Corona, India is moving ahead rapidly. Our lifestyle, including our lifestyle, food and worship, has made us suitable to face all situations.
Chief Minister Yogi said that this is the accomplishment of the devotion and resolutions of the revered saints of Gorakshpeeth, Digvijaynath ji and Avedyanath ji. When a selfless saint takes a resolution, it has to be fulfilled. The fulfillment of the resolutions of the saints fills everyone's heart with joy. Today, with the enthronement of Ram Lalla, the entire Ayodhya is shining.
The Chief Minister said that Mahant Digvijaynath ji was born in the Veerbhumi of Mewar but he made Gorakhpur his karmabhoomi and sadhna sthal. He had a divine vision. In 1949 itself, he had seen with his divine vision that Ram Mandir will be built in Ayodhya. Today, each of his resolutions is being fulfilled. In whichever field we are working, if we discharge our duties honestly, then it will be a true tribute to the departed Mahants. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also given five vows for building a developed India, among which the discharge of civic duties is the most important.
