Haridwar, September 19 (HS). Ranipur Kotwali police has arrested six accused with fake notes worth lakhs and equipment used for printing notes. The mastermind behind printing fake notes has previously gone to jail in a rape case.
During checking, Ranipur police stopped four suspects riding on two bikes at Suman Nagar bridge and recovered fake notes worth lakhs of rupees from their possession. Disclosing the case, SSP Pramod Dobal said that 44 notes of 500 rupees, totaling 22 thousand rupees, have been recovered from the arrested accused. During interrogation, the accused told that they used to make fake notes with the help of laptop and printer in a rented room in Sudhowala Premnagar Dehradun with their other accomplices.
After the interrogation, the police formed two teams to arrest the accused and recovered 200 fake notes of Rs 500 from the possession of accused Mohit, resident of Sarsawa, district Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh from Suddhowala Prem Nagar and a laptop, printer, two blade cutters, two tapes and material for printing notes from his rented room. Another police team arrested Vishal (23), resident of Gandhi Colony, Deoband, district Saharanpur from Doon Enclave Patel Nagar, Dehradun with 207 fake notes of Rs 500, a laptop, a printer and material for making fake notes.
SSP said that the accused used to prepare fake notes from the real 500 rupee notes which were scanned in the laptop in a planned manner. These fake notes were circulated in the markets of Dehradun and Haridwar through their accomplices. These people mostly used to circulate fake notes to make small purchases at crowded shops or at elderly shopkeepers.
Masterminds Mohit and Nikhil Kumar have previously been jailed from Nahan police station in Himachal Pradesh in the case of printing and circulating fake notes in the market. Mohit has also been jailed from Vikasnagar police station in Dehradun district in a rape case. Accused Saurabh (21), resident of Gandhi Colony, Deoband police station in Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh has previously been jailed from Patelnagar police station in Dehradun in the case of snatching a bag.
The accused Vishal and Neeraj are real brothers, who are Saurabh's friends and belong to the same village. Both the brothers used to take a rented room in Chandrabani Dehradun and used to print fake notes with the help of printer and laptop. Saurabh was with Neeraj and Vishal in their rented room for the last 15-20 days, where he became friends with Mohit through Vishal. The SSP told that Mohit also stays in a rented room in Sudhowala Dehradun and prints fake Rs 500 notes with the help of printer and laptop. Due to greed, accused Saurabh also joined them.
The SSP said that Nikhil Kumar (24), a resident of village Shahjahanpur, police station Sarsawa, district Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has studied till 12th, who earlier lived in Haridwar and worked as a security guard in Akms Company. The accused had gone to jail in 2021 in a fake currency case from Nahan, Himachal Pradesh.
Accused Anantbir (43) resident of Lokrad police station Babugarh cantonment district Hapur Uttar Pradesh, who was recruited in Bengal Engineer Center in the year 2001 and left the army job in 2004 due to an accident. In the year 2022, he went to jail in a robbery case from GRP Najibabad district Bijnor. Meanwhile, he came into this business after meeting Mohit through one of his friends. Police have recovered a total of two lakh 25 thousand 500 rupees from the accused and have registered a case against the accused and challaned them.
