One day national language workshop organized at Welham Girls School | News India

Dehradun, September 19 (HS). Dehradun based English medium school Welham Girls School organized a one day national language workshop in its audio-visual center yesterday. The chief guest of the workshop, grammarian and linguist Acharya Pandit Prithvinath Pandey of Prayagraj inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp. After this, the chief guest, school principal Vibha Kapoor and special guest Vinay Pandey garlanded Saraswati and took her blessings. The students of that school made the atmosphere Saraswati-like by doing Saraswati Vandana.

Coordinator and director of the workshop, Dr. Nalanda Pandey, Head of the Hindi Department of Welham Girls School, gave a proper introduction of the guests.

Welcoming the guests on the stage and the teachers who had come as trainees from different states, Principal of Welham Girls School, Vibha Kapoor said, “This is our historic event, which will serve as an inspiration for other English-medium schools in the country. I know French, yet I have a passion for learning Hindi. This is the first time we are seeing such a large number of private and government schools participating in this event, which is a proof of the fact that your inner desire to learn Hindi has brought you here.

Vinay Pandey, the special guest, said as the next speaker, “Language is a medium through which we can express our feelings and thoughts. It would be good if there is correctness in the language while using it.”

Chief guest Acharya Pandit Prithvinath Pandey said that it is a matter of pride and glory for all of us that despite being an English medium school, Welham Girls School, a renowned school of the country, its divine Principal Honorable Vibha Kapoor has an exemplary love for the Hindi language even though she teaches Latin. Soon after this statement, the workshop started.

In the role of guide, Acharya Pandit Prithvinath Pandey, while clarifying the difference between 'workshop' and 'karmashala', declared the word 'workshop' inappropriate. He said that the use of 'Mahaday, Madam' instead of 'Sir, Madam, Maam' is meaningful. How sentences are formed in Hindi. How does the difference in pronunciation and writing level lead to errors, which word is incorrect and which is correct, how to understand the essential difference between synonyms and the use of 'and': when and where, understanding the use of some important punctuation marks, how Sandhi, Dhatu, Pratyay, Prefix play together, the use-recognition of Ka, Ki, Ke, Na, Ni, Ne; Ra, Ri, Re, the completeness and incompleteness of vowels and consonants; classification of 'R'; vowels and phonetics; palatal, palatal, dental pronunciation etc. Apart from this, the correct meaning, usage and pronunciation of more than a hundred words along with their reasons were made known.

In the closing phase of the program, the chief guest Acharya Pandit Prithvinath Pandey and the school principal Vibha Kapoor presented participation certificates and gifts to all the trainees. In the same sequence, the school principal honored the chief guest by presenting him a coconut, shawl and a memento. In the end, the workshop was declared complete by singing the national anthem.
