Midday meal workers staged a sit-in protest over eleven-point demands | News India

Dhamtari, 19 September (HS). Chhattisgarh Mid Day Meal Workers Unity Union (CITU) organized a Dharna (protest) on 19 September at Gandhi Maidan over 11 point demands. About 100 cooks from across the district attended the protest. CITU's strike will continue today as well.

CITU patron Sameer Qureshi said that in July, a demand letter was sent to the state government regarding the 11-point demands of the union, but till date the state government has not paid attention to our demands. To draw the attention of the state government, a two-day demonstration will be held and a rally will be taken out on September 20 and a demand letter will be handed over to the Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) Dhamtari in the name of the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Government. He said that the BJP had promised before the elections that after the formation of the government, the honorarium will be increased by 50 percent, which has not been done till date. The cook assistants have not received the honorarium for 15 days of June and July, August. The pending honorarium should be allotted soon. On the completion of 25 years of Chhattisgarh Foundation Day on November 1, the honorarium of cook assistants should be given Rs 2500.

During the demonstration, CITU president Anusuiya Kandra, Ahalya Dhruv, Mahesh Nirmalkar, Lalita Sahu, Sita Sahu, Balaram Markam, Radha Dili, Jayshree Goswami, Dehu Ram Yadav and a large number of female cooks were present.
