New Delhi, September 19 (HS). Union Health and Family Welfare Secretary Apurva Chandra planted saplings in the Nirman Bhawan complex on Thursday. These saplings have been planted under the nationwide 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year. Health Ministry's OSD Punya Salila Srivastava was also present on this occasion.
Speaking to media after the event, Chandra said that planting of saplings was one of the programmes under a special cleanliness drive launched by the health ministry. He said all the officials of the ministry took a pledge to increase the green cover in the surroundings as well as to devote 100 hours to cleanliness this year. Saplings were also planted by other senior officials of the health ministry, including additional secretaries Roli Singh, LS Changsan, Aradhana Patnaik and Jaideep Kumar Mishra, during the event.
