Along with treatment, doctors and health workers should also provide information regarding diet to the patient.
A tool kit has been specially created by the Health Department for Eat Right which includes topics like nutritional diet, adopting good eating habits, proper disposal of waste, role of nutrients in the body during one thousand days from the day of conception of the woman. The training included use of tool kit, balanced diet, food pyramid, eating as per requirement, use of fat, sugar and salt, food fortification, food safety, safe food practice, food adulteration, food preparation and food hygiene by the experts of Hotel Management Institute. Information was given on the topics. The human body requires carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals every day. To fulfill this, it is necessary to include all types of food items in daily life. To make the common people understand in easy language, the substance ON has been classified into the categories of Go, Grow and Glow. Go foods rich in carbohydrates and fats provide us energy for daily activities. Wheat, rice, maize, bread, oil, bread, butter etc. are included. Grow foods rich in protein give health to our muscles. This includes milk, cheese, pulses, fish etc. Glow foods provide good eyesight, healthy skin and strength to fight infections. These foods are rich in vitamins and minerals which include vegetables and fruits.
It was told in the training that using packing materials like newspaper, plastic, thermocol for packing hot food for a long time can be harmful to health, it can also cause cancer and brain disorders. Plain paper, tissue paper, clean cloth, paper napkin, steel, glass utensils are suitable for packing.
Addressing the training, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Bhopal, Dr. Prabhakar Tiwari said that daily and general rules of hygiene should be followed to prevent common diseases. By adopting daily and general rules of hygiene like washing hands thoroughly with soap and water before eating, washing fruits and vegetables before using them, using clean water for drinking, not eating food that has fallen down, keeping food and water covered, etc. All diseases can be prevented. Along with this, it is necessary to dispose of wet and dry waste separately. By eating balanced food in daily life, all our daily needs are fulfilled. Use of Vitamin A prevents night blindness.
