A major action has been taken by the NIA in Bihar. Raids have been conducted at several places in Gaya. According to reports, the NIA searched the house of two people, including a former member of the Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) in Gaya district on Thursday to investigate their alleged involvement in illegal activities with workers of the banned organization CPI (Maoist).
NIA officials searched the premises of former MLC Manorama Devi in Rampur police station area of Gaya district and Dwarika Yadav in Gointha village. Sources said the search operation is part of the NIA's investigation into the CPI (Maoist)'s conspiracy to revive and strengthen the banned outfit in Bihar's Magadh region.
The case relates to the recovery and seizure of two pamphlets belonging to the CPI (Maoist) Magadh Regional Organisation Committee along with arms and ammunition from the possession of accused Rohit Rai and Pramod Yadav in 2023. The two were allegedly conspiring with their associates to carry out illegal activities and were illegally extorting money from contractors and brick kiln owners to promote violent activities of the CPI (Maoist).
Officials are tight-lipped on the NIA action. Family members linked to Manorama Devi were earlier also arrested by the investigating agencies for their alleged links with CPI (Maoist) cadres. Despite repeated attempts, Manorama Devi was not available for her comment on the issue. Guyana Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashish Bharti told reporters, “The NIA requested the district police to provide security personnel for its search operation in Guyana, which was handed over to the central investigating agency.
