Health minister directs state health agency to ensure timely payments to hospitals | News India

Chandigarh: Ayushman Bharat will recruit medical professionals to expedite claim processing by the State Health Agency (SHA) to ensure timely payments to hospitals listed under the Chief Minister Sehat Bima Yojana. Till now, claims under the Ayushman scheme were settled at the district level only. Now the headquarters of the Health Department will also be involved in this. Medical professionals will also be hired for this. This information was given by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare. Dr. Balbir Singh held a meeting with the sub-committee of the State Health Agency and discussed policy matters, staff shortage and various ongoing issues of the State Health Agency. The minister said that the purpose of recruiting medical professionals is to expedite the processing of claims, reduce delays in the evaluation of claims.

The Health Minister said that the recruitment drive will focus on qualified medical professionals who can effectively assess the claims and speed up the process. He further said that the newly appointed staff will be given extensive training focusing on protocols and special needs related to claims processing. He said that in addition, all the existing staff involved in the claim process will also be trained to ensure that they are familiar with the best practices and procedures. Dr Balbir Singh also directed the concerned officials to clear the pending dues of all the hospitals empanelled under Ayushman Bharat Mukhyamantri Swasthya Bima Yojana.

The scheme provides cashless treatment up to Rs five lakh per family per year in 772 government and private empanelled hospitals across the state. The state health agency has issued 84.44 lakh cards to over 45 lakh families of Punjab to benefit from the scheme, which provides access to around 1600 types of treatments including knee replacement, heart surgery, cancer treatment, etc. Administrative Secretary Health Kumar Rahul, Member Punjab Development Commission Anurag Kundu and CEO State Health Agency (SHA) Punjab Miss Babita were also present in the meeting.
