Rail accident in Mathura: 27 coaches of goods train derailed, rail traffic halted on three lines | News India

Mathura, September 19 (HS). 27 coaches of a coal laden goods train derailed on Wednesday night at Mathura Junction. The wagons climbed over each other and overturned due to the coupling breaking. Due to the accident, there was a pile of coal on the down and up lines, due to which rail traffic came to a halt. The route of 12 trains has been diverted. However, after many efforts, the fourth line was made operational between Mathura-Delhi at 10:30 am. Rail traffic on the other three lines is currently halted. Railway relief team and officials are present on the spot. Station Director Mathura Junction SK Srivastava has confirmed the accident.

Goods train number STPB was carrying coal from Jharkhand to Suratgarh Thermal Plant. There were 59 coaches in this train. On Wednesday night around 07:54 pm, when this train passed about 800 meters ahead of Vrindavan Road Railway Station, 27 out of 59 coaches of the goods train derailed near pillar number 1408/14 in Mathura. The situation at the spot was such that many coaches were piled up on top of each other. There was a loud noise when the train derailed. As soon as the information of the goods train derailment was received, there was a stir in the railway. Immediately a relief train was dispatched towards the spot. The DRM and Station Director of the railway reached the spot. It was seen on the spot that the coupling of the engine was broken and about 27 coaches behind it were derailed.

After the goods train derailed, traffic on all four lines came to a halt. The fourth line seemed safe but first the railway officials tested it and then first a goods train was passed through it at around 10:30 pm. After its safe passage, the Shatabdi going from Jhansi to Delhi was passed on this line.

According to DRM Tej Prakash Agarwal, the goods train was carrying STPB coal to Suratgarh Thermal Plant. This accident happened at around 07:54 pm. Many coaches of the goods train have derailed. Three lines are affected. Rail traffic has been restored on the fourth line. Due to this accident, the routes of many trains have been diverted, while some have been cancelled. It cannot be said right now whether there is any conspiracy in the accident or not. Right now we are trying to restore rail traffic.

Meanwhile, Kosikala station manager Raju Meena said that Telangana Express going from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Hyderabad was sent back from Kosikala railway station towards Hazrat Nizamuddin station. Now Telangana Express will go to Hyderabad via a changed route.
