If your bank account is in State Bank of India (SBI) and you have given the name of a nominee in it, then you should add a nominee soon. You can do this work online. For this, you must have netbanking facility. If you have not availed this facility till now, then you can fill the form and submit it in your branch. This will start your netbanking facility. Then you will be able to easily add the name of the nominee in your account.
How to add nominee's name through netbanking
1. Login to Onlinesbi.com using your user ID and password.
2. Go to the 'Requests & Enquiries' section in the menu.
3. Click on the 'Online Enrolment' option.
4. Select the account to which you want to add a nominee. Then click on Continue.
5. Enter the nominee's name, date of birth, address and relationship with the account holder.
6. Then submit the form.
7. Enter the high security password received on your mobile phone.
8. Finally click on the 'Confirm' button.
You can add the name of the nominee by visiting the branch
If you do not use internet banking, you can do this by visiting the bank branch. It would be better if you download the nomination form from the bank's website. Then after filling in the complete information, go to the bank branch and submit it. Any person can add or remove the name of the nominee in his bank account at any time. Two people can be made nominees in a joint locker account.
