Ranchi, September 18 (HS). The court of ATS Special Judge PK Sharma on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Bajrang Kumar Thakur, a resident of Thakur Tola, Patratu, who was arrested with 50 lakh cash at Patna Junction. Accused Bajrang was arrested by RPF at Patna Junction on August 12.
The ATS remanded him on August 17. Since then he is in jail. The seized amount was said to be extortion money from various coal traders and contractors of Jharkhand state through members of Pandey gang. The accused was going to give the extorted amount to a person along with Pawan Kumar Thakur. He was travelling by Ranchi-Patna Vande Bharat train and as soon as he got down at Patna Junction, the RPF deployed there caught him before he could get out. While searching his bag, 50 lakh cash was found. When he was asked about it, he could not give any answer. After this he was arrested. Later, Jharkhand ATS took him on remand.
