Nawada 18 September (HS). In Bihar's Nawada district, in Krishna Nagar Mahadalit Tola of Dadar Panchayat of Mufassil police station, on Wednesday evening, miscreants set fire to the houses of 80 Mahadalits. Due to which their houses were burnt.
The Mahadalit alleges that dozens of their cattle were also burnt to ashes. Somehow people saved their lives by running away from their homes. The villagers say that Nandu Paswan of Krishna Nagar came with gunmen and set the houses on fire. On receiving the information of the incident, on the instructions of DM Ashutosh Kumar Verma, Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Akhilesh Kumar and SDPO Anoj Kumar are camping at the site with their forces. Half a dozen fire brigade vehicles are engaged in extinguishing the fire.
DM Ashutosh Kumar Verma said that there was a land dispute between the two parties. Due to which the Mahadalits have accused Nandu Paswan of setting their huts on fire. The police is conducting raids to arrest the accused. Peace has been restored in the affected villages. A large number of police forces have been deployed at the scene.
Sadar SDO Akhilesh Kumar, who is camping at the site of incident, said that so far 21 houses have been burnt. Due to darkness, difficulties are being faced in conducting a proper investigation. But the situation is said to be peaceful.
He said that after camping till late night, the truth will be ascertained and strict action will be taken against the culprits. A special report is awaited. Till the time of writing the news, no culprit could be arrested.
