Jammu, September 18 (HS). On the occasion of World Ozone Day, Indian Army organized an awareness program at Government Girls High School to emphasize the importance of preserving the ozone layer. The program focused on educating the students about the important role of ozone layer in protecting the earth from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
Participants learned about the need for collective action to protect the ozone layer and the importance of reducing substances that deplete it, such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). The event also celebrated global initiatives such as the Montreal Protocol that have made significant progress in restoring the ozone layer.
The awareness session included a lecture by a representative of the Indian Army, as well as contributions from relevant civil society stakeholders. An interactive segment encouraged students and teachers to get actively involved and take proactive measures to reduce their carbon footprints. A total of 07 teachers and 97 students attended the event.
