Jammu, September 18 (HS). Natarang enlightened the people of 6 major towns of Rajouri and Poonch districts through its highly effective play 'Loktantra Ka Asli Mantra' which was staged at Surankot, Mendhar, Poonch, Rajouri, Nowshera and Sunderbani. Innovatively written by Padma Shri Balwant Thakur and directed by Neeraj Kant, these shows are sponsored by the office of Chief Electoral Officer Jammu and Kashmir and were efficiently organized at the local level by the District Election Offices of Poonch and Rajouri.

With an aim to make the large population aware of their right to vote, Balwant Thakur has specially designed a highly motivational play using local idioms, cultural expressions and storytelling forms. Interestingly, wherever this play is performed, the actors are trained to use the local language in their effective narratives which creates a strong connection with the audience and they (audience) also connect with the local characters being portrayed in this mind-stirring play.

On this occasion Director of Natarang Balwant Thakur thanked Chief Electoral Officer Jammu & Kashmir for providing Natarang with this wonderful opportunity to use art for a larger national cause. All the three shows in Anantnag received a standing ovation and people were seen accepting the fact that the play has impacted them very effectively and inspired the audience to become ambassadors of this strong message. The play 'Loktantra Ka Asli Mantra' starts with the aggression of frustrated youth who are struggling to survive in the polluted air of corruption, scams and dishonesty. They see no hope in the future as their present is rotten by the corrupt system. They want to destroy everything around them in anger but when asked by an educated person 'what are they doing to come out of this unfortunate situation?' the educated person calls them the most vibrant human resource of the world and inspires them to come forward, take charge and change their destiny. The most effective way to change the fate of a country is through voting, it is a very peaceful and effective way to bring about major reforms of your choice.

As the play progresses different age groups and different sections of people are shown in a satirical way that they have their own petty reasons for not voting and whom to vote for. This ignorance and arrogance of the public leaves a huge opportunity for vested interests to exploit this situation. Through this play all sections of the society were motivated to not shy away from their ultimate responsibility of voting for a strong democracy of India.
