Gandhinagar, September 18 (HS). The closing ceremony of the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor Summit and Expo 2024 (RE-INVEST) organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Central Government was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. On this occasion, Governor Acharya Devvrat said that at present global warming has become a global warning, in such a situation, the global contemplation held during these three days at Mahatma Mandir in the renewable energy sector is a contemplation done at the right time and in the right direction. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is moving on the path of progress with the concept of world welfare, and Gujarat is playing the role of a leader in the field of renewable energy. For this, he congratulated Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the entire Gujarat government.
The Governor said that while moving ahead on the path of material progress, we have exploited nature to a great extent. Nature is angry with the exploitation of these Pancha Mahabhutas or Panchtatvas – Sun, Earth, Fire, Air and Water. We are suffering its serious consequences in the form of global warming. In Indian scriptures, the Pancha Mahabhutas have been called deities. We need to move ahead on the path of progress by worshipping these deities and nurturing these Panchtatvas of nature. The fourth Global Renewable Energy Investor Meet will prove to be an important step in this direction. He said that energy is the basis of development. The thinking done in the field of sun, wind, hydro and green hydrogen energy is the thinking of the welfare of the whole world. For this, he congratulated the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy of the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat.
About 62 thousand million units of hydroelectricity are produced in the state: CM
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed confidence on the closing occasion that the fourth RE-INVEST Summit, organized with the mantra of 'Invest-Innovate-Inspire', will give impetus to the vision of 'One Sun, One Earth, One Grid' given by the Prime Minister along with realizing 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given new dimensions to environmental protection, energy security and green energy by reducing dependence on fossil fuels. Narendra Modi has built the building of comprehensive development of Gujarat on the basis of 'Shakti Panchamrit'. As a result, Gujarat is moving towards becoming the 'Renewable Energy Capital' as the growth engine of the country's development.
The Chief Minister specifically mentioned that during his tenure as the Chief Minister of the state, the Prime Minister had established the country's first solar energy park at Charanka for maximum production of solar energy in Gujarat. Not only this, the importance of hydropower production has been established by appropriating water power into energy power through the Sardar Sarovar Dam. In this context, he said that last year about 62 thousand million units of hydropower were produced in the state. Pumped hydro projects have become possible due to better water management and the state government has identified 50 places for this purpose.
Shri Bhupendra Patel proudly informed that in the fourth edition of the RE-Invest Summit, MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) intentions worth Rs 59 thousand crores have been signed for pumped hydro projects of 9460 MW capacity. The RE-Invest Summit has been organised since 2015 with the vision of the Prime Minister to provide an opportunity to connect with various initiatives of India's green transition. The Chief Minister expressed happiness that in the fourth edition of this summit, MoU intentions worth more than Rs 3 lakh crore have been signed for investment in the renewable energy sector in Gujarat.
