Voting for the first phase of assembly elections is going on in Jammu and Kashmir today amid tight security. Extensive arrangements have been made by the Election Commission for fair and peaceful voting in the Union Territory. Voting started at 7 am and will end at 6 pm. Security forces have been deployed at every nook and corner in all sensitive areas. More than 23.27 lakh voters of the Union Territory are exercising their franchise today. Voting is going on in 24 assembly seats in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir. 41.17 percent voting has been recorded till 1 pm.

In this phase, voting is being held on 24 assembly seats in seven districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The fate of 219 candidates will be decided in the first phase. There are 16 constituencies in Kashmir division. These include Pampore, Tral, Pulwama, Rajpora, Jainpora, Shopian, DH Pora, Kulgam, Devsar, Duru, Kokernag (ST), Anantnag West, Anantnag, Srigufwara-Bijbehra, Shangas-Anantnag East and Pahalgam. While in Jammu division, it will cover eight constituencies. Voting is taking place in Inderwal, Kishtwar, Paddar-Nagseni, Bhaderwah, Doda, Doda West, Ramban and Banihal.
Jammu and Kashmir elections: 41.17% voting till 1 pm
According to the Election Commission, 41.17 percent voting took place till 1 pm in the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. 37.90 percent voting took place in Anantnag. Similarly, 50.81 percent voting took place in Doda, 56.86 percent in Kishtwar, 39.91 percent in Kulgam, 29.84 percent in Pulwama, 49.68 percent in Ramban and 38.72 percent in Shopian.
