Delhi New CM: Atishi will be the next Chief Minister of Delhi. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) proposed her name in the legislative party meeting. The MLAs agreed to this. Atishi will be the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi. Before this, late Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dixit have been the Chief Ministers of Delhi.
Earlier, the leaders of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had suggested Atishi's name as the next Chief Minister of Delhi. The PAC meeting was held on Monday (September 16).
Arvind Kejriwal announced his resignation from the post of Chief Minister on Sunday (15 September). In the Delhi Excise Policy case, the ED arrested Arvind Kejriwal on 21 March. After this, he was arrested by the CBI. He got bail from the Supreme Court on 13 September in the case. He had already got bail in the ED case. He came out of Tihar Jail on 13 September.
After this, on Sunday, while addressing the AAP workers, he announced his resignation. He said that I want to give agnipariksha (fire test). He had said, “Until people give him a certificate of honesty, he will not sit on the Chief Minister's chair.” Along with this, he also appealed to hold elections along with Maharashtra in November.

According to news agency PTI, party insiders had earlier said that apart from Atishi, the names of Delhi ministers Gopal Rai, Kailash Gehlot and Saurabh Bharadwaj were also being discussed as possible contenders for the post of chief minister.
