One Nation, One Election: The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is planning to implement 'One Nation, One Election' during its current term. According to sources, PM Modi is confident that all parties will support this decision of the central government.
According to information coming from sources, it will be implemented in this term itself. In his Independence Day speech last month, Prime Minister Modi once again reiterated his resolve of 'one nation-one election'. He said that frequent elections are becoming an obstacle in the progress of the country.
A senior central government official said on Sunday that the NDA government will implement “one nation, one election” in its current term despite the BJP being in a minority. He also said, “There should be no confusion about policy stability under a government elected for the third consecutive time after 60 years.”
A senior official said there is no sector where the NDA government has not taken policy decisions to continue the work started 10 years ago. Be it the defence sector, space, foreign and home affairs, education, Digital India and making India a manufacturing hub or spending Rs 11 lakh crore annually to build infrastructure.
Let us tell you that the committee headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind submitted its report to President Draupadi Murmu on March 14, which is 18,626 pages long. The panel was constituted on 2 September 2023. Now the Modi government is planning to implement it. If the Modi government implements One Nation One Election, then the term of all state assemblies can be extended till the next Lok Sabha elections i.e. 2029. After which elections will be held simultaneously across the country in 2029.
Apart from this, administrative work has been started to conduct the long-pending nationwide census. However, no decision has been taken yet on whether the caste column will be included in the census process or not. The decennial census was not conducted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. After which the census process has been started again after a delay of three years.
