Panchayat Election Punjab Update: Many types of news are coming out regarding the dates of Panchayat elections in Punjab. Now the latest information is that the state government will conduct the elections of Panchayat institutions in two phases. In the first phase, only the Sarpanchs and Panchs of the villages are to be elected and this election is possible anytime after mid-October.
The Punjab government will conduct separate elections for Panchayat Samiti and Zila Parishad. The way for elections to Municipal Corporation etc. should be paved only after the Panchayat elections. By-elections are also to be held in four assembly constituencies in Punjab, which have not yet been announced by the Election Commission. The government has started giving funds to the villages before the Panchayat elections. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said About 50 crore rupees have been released from its discretionary quota for all the assembly constituencies. The Rural Development and Panchayat Department has started the process for Panchayat elections.
The State Election Commission has also released the list of election symbols. The amendment made in the Panchayati Raj Act 1994 in the monsoon session of the Punjab Assembly is yet to be approved by the Governor. This time the state government has changed the reservation of the post of Sarpanch for the Panchayat elections through a bill, for which the block will now be made the basis, whereas earlier the reservation roster was prepared by considering the district as a unit.
An amendment in the House has now cleared the way for making a new roster. Candidates will not be able to contest elections on the election symbol of political parties. Amendment has been made in this too. It has been learned that Panchayat elections will be held after the results of Haryana Assembly elections.
