Sukhu government should respect public sentiments in mosque dispute case: Jairam Thakur | News India

Shimla, September 14 (HS). Amidst the uproar over the mosque dispute, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has targeted the Sukhu government. In a statement on Saturday, he said that after Sanjauli, the forceful action on the peaceful protest in Mandi is extremely unfortunate. The government is disrespecting the sentiments of the people. People expect justice from the government, but the government wants to deal with brutality. Due to the brutality of the government, this protest is becoming violent across the state, every person is expressing his anger in a constitutional way.

He alleged that the state government is trying to crush the democratic demonstration of the people brutally. The brutality adopted by the government against the protesters is unjust. Instead of respecting the public sentiments, the government is hell-bent on crushing them. This is not in the interest of the state in any case. Why is the government not talking to the protesting people and assuring them of justice? Can illegal construction force the government in such a way that instead of taking action against it, the people of the state are lathi-charged and injured with water cannons? The Congress-led Sukhu government should desist from this dictatorial attitude.

Jairam Thakur said that in protest against the barbarity in Mandi and Sanjauli, people across the state are expressing their feelings by closing markets and taking out silent processions. In such a situation, the government should respect the sentiments of the people and assure them of getting justice. Will the Congress government not allow people to protest peacefully under democratic rights?

He said that the concerns of the people of the state should be heard seriously and a just solution should be found. Himachal is a peaceful state and such a situation of conflict is not good for anyone. The government should work within the ambit of law and free the people of the state from this uncomfortable situation.
