Sukma, 14 September (HS). Jawan Vipul Bhuyan, a resident of Assam posted at the Gadiras camp of CRPF 226 battalion under the Gadiras police station area of the district, committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle on Saturday morning. According to the information received, the jawan had returned from leave only two days ago, the reason for the suicide is not yet clear.
Jawan Vipul Bhuyan posted at Gadiras Camp went to the camp bathroom this morning and shot himself. Hearing the gunshot, fellow jawans reached the spot, but by then the jawan had died. Initial investigation has revealed that the jawan was upset ever since he returned to the camp from leave. However, the reason for his distress and taking the step of suicide could not be ascertained. The body of the jawan has been sent to the hospital for postmortem.
It is noteworthy that the trend of suicides by security forces personnel is not stopping. During the last 20 days, four personnel have given up their lives. At the same time, the condition of a police constable is critical. These include a constable of SSB and a head constable of CRPF. The biggest reason for suicides by personnel posted in Naxal-affected areas of Bastar division is not getting leave on time. However, there are some personnel who have committed suicide during duty after returning from leave, the reason for this has come to light as family discord. Apart from this, there is also a communication gap between the personnel and the senior officials of the security forces, due to which the personnel are not able to put their problems in front of the officials.
