Kolkata, September 13 (HS). The BJP on Friday continued its protests in various parts of the state, demanding the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel over the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at R.G. Kar Hospital.
A BJP spokesperson said party leaders were launching scathing attacks on the state government during their speeches at the protest site in Kolkata's Esplanade area. Meanwhile, some women protesters made sketches “with their blood” and carried placards demanding justice for the young doctor.
We demand the immediate resignation of the Chief Minister as she has failed to ensure safety of women at workplace and is trying to hide the matter, a protester said.
BJP has been protesting on this issue since August 29.
Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Suvendu Adhikari led a BJP procession in the Naihati-Bhatpara area of North 24 Parganas district, where he demanded Mamata Banerjee's resignation. Adhikari said the people of Bengal will “celebrate Durga Puja with full heart” after the chief minister resigns.
He said, “It may happen soon. However, it is a personal decision how one will celebrate the festival, but we will definitely worship Maa Durga.”
