Sweep campaign increases voter participation in Kishtwar district | News India

Jammu, September 12 (HS). Ahead of the Assembly elections, the District Election Office Kishtwar has intensified voter awareness campaign through systematic voter education and electoral participation campaign under the leadership of District Election Officer Rajesh Kumar Shawan. The main objective is to achieve maximum voter participation especially targeting absentee voters who were unable to vote in previous elections. For this purpose, the District Sweep Office is closely coordinating with the Assembly Constituency level Sweep Nodal Officers and various local stakeholders to organize, educate and engage voters across the district.

The Sweep campaign in all the Assembly constituencies is organising various activities including rallies, debates, speeches, signature campaigns, painting competitions and slogan writing programmes. These initiatives are taking place at schools, public places and polling stations under the supervision of AC Nodal Officers. Students, teachers, lecturers, booth level officers, Bharat Scouts and Guides, voters and prominent citizens are being involved in these programmes to create mass awareness about the importance of voting.

The remote area of Marwah in AC 48-Inderwal has become the focal point of electoral awareness efforts. Several programmes were organised where teachers, students and community leaders, including the Regional Education Officer Marwah and Regional Information Communication Coordinator Marwah, highlighted the importance of exercising the right to vote as a pillar of democracy. A unique feature of these activities was the creation of a “Democracy Signature Wall” in Marwah, where local voters left their signatures as a symbol of their commitment to participate in the upcoming elections.

This reach extended to even the most remote areas like the polling station at Unique 01-Sukhnai, AC 48-Indrawal which is one of the farthest polling stations in the district where a similar programme took place to ensure that no voter was left behind. Several educational institutions hosted debates and seminars, including a well-attended event at GHS Galigadh in AC 49-Kishtwar. A rally was taken out from GHSS Sarthal where participants marched to various localities accompanied by drum beats and band masters to encourage voters. Poster making competition, slogan writing activities and speeches added vibrancy to the event which was attended by locals and prominent community personalities alike.

AC 50-Nagaseni Paddar witnessed an energetic SVEEP campaign with a mega rally being organised by the SVEEP Nodal Officer and his team at Padiyarna Village in Nagaseni. The enthusiastic participation of voters of all age groups marked the huge success of the rally in the area. The rally aimed to inform and motivate voters about the importance of participating in the forthcoming elections thereby contributing to the district-wide goal of maximum electoral participation.
