Share Market Open: Market opened at a new record on the first day of the week, Sensex crossed 73,900 points

New Delhi: In Monday's trading session, both the stock market indices opened with gains. Today Nifty and Sensex are trading on the rise.

This morning the Sensex opened at 73,959.75, up 153.60 points or 0.21 per cent. Nifty also reached 22,401 points with a gain of 62.25 points or 0.1 percent.

Top gainers and losers

Among Sensex companies, shares of NTPC, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, IndusInd Bank and Maruti are trading rapidly. Shares of JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Titan and Mahindra & Mahindra declined.

In Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai were trading in the green while Hong Kong witnessed a decline. American markets closed with gains on Friday.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.11 percent to $83.64 a barrel. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 81.87 crore on Saturday.

Rupee opened 4 paise stronger against the dollar. Today, the Indian currency opened at 82.86 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange and slipped against the greenback and was trading at 82.87, up 4 paise from its previous close. On Friday, the rupee fell 2 paise to close at 82.91 against the US dollar.
