Chandigarh: The Punjab-Haryana High Court (High Court) has filed a PIL against the restoration of 10 lakh 77 thousand fake ration cards canceled by the Punjab government in the year 2022 and has ordered the Punjab government to file a reply within a week.
Petitioner Anil Kumar Tayal has filed a PIL in the High Court saying that after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, 10 lakh 77 thousand ration cards were canceled citing anti-corruption campaign. The government argued that all these ration cards are fake. Now the government has decided to restore all of them. The High Court was told that neither any investigation nor verification was done before restoring all of them. This decision of the Punjab government has been taken in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections so that its benefit can be taken. The petitioner appealed to the High Court to stay the decision of the Punjab government and order an investigation into the entire matter. After hearing the arguments of the petitioner, the High Court has ordered the Punjab government and other respondents to file their reply on the petition within a week.
