Ingredients for making Idli
- Rice – 3 cups
- Urad dal – 1 cup
- Salt – as per taste
- Water – as required
How to make Idli
- First of all, soak urad dal and rice in water for at least 4-5 hours.
- – Then grind the soaked lentils and rice in a mixer.
- Keep in mind, while grinding keep adding water little by little so that the batter does not become thick.
- – Then cover the batter in a vessel and let it rise in a warm place for 8-10 hours.
- On fermentation the batter will foam and increase in volume.
- – After this, pour the fermented batter into the idli plate.
- – Now place the idli plate in the idli steamer and steam for 15-20 minutes.
- After steaming your idli is ready.
- Serve them with hot sambar and chutney.
