Manipur News & Latest Updates: Manipur is once again in the grip of violence, curfew has been imposed in three districts including the capital Imphal. At present, incidents of bomb blasts by drones have also started increasing. Women took out a torch rally in protest against this. People's anger against the administration is increasing, some protesters are pelting stones at the Raj Bhavan. Now incidents of violence have started increasing and it is spreading again across the state. In view of this situation, internet service has been suspended for five days across the state to prevent further spread of violence. The fire of violence has been burning in Manipur since May last year. The entire administration has failed to stop it. The Home Ministry of the state government has issued a notification to shut down internet services across the state till September 15. This also includes mobile data services, leased lines, VSATS, broadband and VPN services. The notification states that some anti-social elements are sharing inflammatory speeches, pictures, videos etc. on social media and messaging apps. Due to which violence is likely to increase further.
Along with this, it has been decided to keep all government and private schools and colleges closed for two days from Wednesday. On Monday, thousands of students gathered in Imphal and took out a rally demanding action against drone-missile attackers. Meanwhile, all the protesters took out a rally towards the Raj Bhavan. During which the security forces stopped them, resulting in heavy clashes, police and security forces fired tear gas shells. Protests were also held by the students of Manipur University, the students protested by burning effigies. On the 6th, an attack took place in Moirang in which one person died. A person performing puja at the residence of the first Chief Minister of Manipur died, a big explosion took place in Trounglaobi village which caused heavy damage, although no one was injured.
Manipur has witnessed several incidents of violence in the last 16 months, in which more than 200 people have been killed so far, while thousands have been displaced, many have been forced to live in relief camps for more than a year. Violence broke out between the Meitei and Kuki tribes, during which incidents of the most heinous crimes including parading women naked came to light. Recently drone and missile attacks have increased, in which eight people have been killed at present. People are now also protesting to demand to stop the violence, on Monday an attempt was made to surround the residence of the Chief Minister and the Governor. During this, stone pelting was also done. In view of the situation, about two thousand additional soldiers have been deployed.
