Eluru (Devarapalli), September 11 (HS). Seven agricultural labourers were killed in a road accident that took place after midnight on Tuesday in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Two others are seriously injured. The accident occurred when a mini lorry overturned.
Police said the mini lorry carrying cashew seeds in sacks left from Borrampalem village in T. Narasapuram mandal of Eluru district for Tadimalla in Nidadavolu mandal of East Godavari district. The vehicle lost control near Chilakavaripakallu in Devarapalli mandal on Aripatidibbalu-Chinnaigudem road and hit the railing and overturned. The driver jumped out and fled immediately after the accident. Seven of the nine people travelling in the vehicle died. Two were injured. One of the injured was identified as Ghanta Madhu (Tadimalla).
DSP Devakumar said he, along with SSIs Srihari Rao and Subramanian, rushed to the spot and began rescue operations. The deceased were identified as Devabattula Booraiah (40), Tammireddy Satyanarayana (45), P. Chinamusalaya (35), Kattav Krishna (40), Kattav Sattipandu (40), Tadi Krishna (45) of Tadimalla and Samishragudem Mandal of Katkoteswaram.
