Soybean will be purchased as per the demand of MP government: Shivraj Chauhan | News India

Bhopal, September 10 (HS). Farmers are agitating in Madhya Pradesh demanding that the price of soybean be fixed at Rs. 6,000 per quintal. Amid the agitation by Congress over the demand of soybean farmers, a big statement by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has come to the fore. He has said that the Central Government will procure soybean as per the demand of the Madhya Pradesh Government.

Union Agriculture Minister Chauhan, in continuation of his resolution to plant a sapling every day, reached Bhopal's Smart City Garden on Tuesday to plant a sapling. Talking to the media after planting the sapling here, he said that trees and plants not only give us oxygen, but also increase the greenery and beauty of the earth. You too must plant a sapling.

On this occasion, when the Union Agriculture Minister was asked about the Kisan Nyay Yatra started by the Congress on Tuesday regarding the price of soybean, he said that Narendra Modi is a farmer-friendly Prime Minister. The support price of soybean is fixed at Rs 4,994 per quintal and it is our commitment that we will buy soybean from farmers at the minimum support price. It is the commitment of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the NDA government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi to give the farmers the full price of their hard work.

Union Agriculture Minister Chauhan said that there is a plan for soybean purchase. Three states like Maharashtra-Karnataka had demanded soybean purchase and they have been given permission to purchase soybean under the PSS scheme. He said that we are in touch with the government of Madhya Pradesh. Right now the soybean crop will take some time to arrive. We have two purchase schemes, under any of those schemes, if the Madhya Pradesh government prepares to buy soybean at the minimum support price, we will immediately give permission.

He said that it is the priority of Prime Minister Modi that the farmer gets a fair price for his produce. Right now the crop is yet to arrive and our officials are in touch with the state government, a decision will be taken soon. He said that I want to assure the farmer brothers in Madhya Pradesh and also in other states including Madhya Pradesh that if we buy together with the state government on the minimum support price that we have decided, as per the government's plan, then the state government will be allowed to buy immediately as per its wish.
