Heavy rains affect Mahabaleshwar's favourite strawberry | News India

Mumbai: Mahabaleshwar's popular strawberry will be affected by continuous heavy rains this time. Due to the rainy season, farmers in Mahabaleshwar and Panchgani areas have postponed strawberry cultivation for fifteen days. Farmers have estimated that this time strawberry cultivation will be done in less area than usual, which will result in a decline in production.

Due to heavy rains in Mahabaleshwar, Wai, Javli, Panchgani and Koregaon of Satara district, this disease has started affecting the strawberry plants in the nurseries. This will reduce the production. Due to the absence of drainage, the moisture of the soil does not decrease.

Hill station Mahabaleshwar is considered the headquarters of strawberry production. Tourists from India and abroad come to Mahabaleshwar and do not forget to buy strawberries. These strawberries are also sent to Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi. But this time, despite the month of September having started, sowing of strawberries has not started. Usually, strawberry saplings are sown from 5 September to 15 October, but this time sowing has been postponed due to rain.
